Fay Booker is a well respected, and nationally renowned consultant, trainer, author and speaker in the disciplines of corporate governance, risk management, and operational effectiveness. Fay has consulted on governance structures in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
Fay has extensive experience in three core and interrelated areas: corporate governance, risk management and organizational effectiveness. Fay has conducted numerous consulting assignments for organizations, reviewing how the organization is governed and operated.
Fay consults on governance structures and the supporting resources that assist Boards in carrying out their responsibilities. She conducts training courses for Directors to educate and improve their knowledge of governing responsibilities and practices. She also performs governance reviews for organizations across Canada and acts as a governance coach to assist Boards to achieve greater effectiveness in their governance role. In addition, Ms. Booker has assisted Audit Committees in defining their evolving role and translating that into information needs and work plans. She has conducted training sessions for Audit Committee members to improve their ability to perform their duties with the new expectations recently established.
Ms. Booker consults on the establishment of risk management frameworks and facilitates risk workshops, undertakes risk assessment processes, and presents extensively on the subject. Fay’s extensive knowledge in the area of Enterprise Risk Management has been gained through on the job experience and positions with financial institutions both nationally and provincially based.
Ms. Booker brings together skills and knowledge gained through the leadership positions she has held in two national accounting and consulting firms, at two of Canada’s large banks and years of consulting with organizations in financial services, the not-for-profit sector, and public companies.
While the National Partner of the Enterprise Risk Services Practice at Grant Thornton, Fay led the development of a control evaluation methodology for companies to assist them in becoming compliant with the Sarbanes Oxley Act and the Canada Securities Administrators requirements for CEO CFO Certification. Fay was directly responsible for the CEO CFO Certification project for a number of clients. Additionally, she trained client staff to equip them to conduct the documentation and testing of the processes and controls to enable the 404 certificates.
